AMERICAN WHALERS IN THE WESTERN ARCTIC

The story of Yankee whaling ships and sailors in their incursion into the most northern reaches of the Pacific is told in a series of 12 aquarelles chronicling the drama of that dangerous occupation, from the sailing period into the age of steam. Produced for portfolio inclusion with the volume American Whalers in the Western Arctic - the final epoch of the great American sailing whaling fleet, all of the pictures are within 15" x 19" format. (Published in 1983 by Edward J. Lefkowicz, Inc. with text by polar explorer and ethnologist John R. Bockstoce; see BOOKS.)
