Scow Schooners on San Francisco Bay. Published by The Scrimshaw Shop, Sausalito, California, in an edition limited to 300. Out of print.

The Last of the Spouters (set of four lithos in portfolio). Privately produced in an unsigned, unnumbered edition; all but 143 sets were destroyed in a fire. Out of print.

Pilot Schooner WANDERVOGEL. Privately printed for the WANDERBIRD restoration project in an edition limited to 250, of which the first 50 were signed and numbered. Out of print.

DRAKE vs. RANGER. Privately printed for the National Maritime Historical Society in a reproduction made for hand-highlighting in the artist's studio. Edition limited to 250, all signed, numbered, and highlighted. Price: $600.

Research Schooner R/V WESTWARD. Published by the Sea Education Association of Woods Hole, Massachusetts, in an edition limited to 750, unnumbered. Price: $400.

PEQUOD at Nantucket. Privately published in an edition limited to 75, signed and numbered. Out of print.

New Bedford whaler JOHN & WINTHROP. Privately printed in an edition limited to 178 signed and numbered copies. Out of print.


Prints & Lithos: subsection 2:  AMERICAN WHALERS IN THE WESTERN ARCTIC

A series of 12 lithographs published under this title by Edward J. Lefkowicz, Inc., in an edition limited to: 400 (of each) bound into the elephant folio volume of the same title (see Books), plus 400 more sets boxed in portfolio and signed and numbered, plus printer's overrun of some 100 copies of each, signed. Prices based on availability of printer's overrun copies. Individually, the lithos are:

USS CONSTITUTION vs. HMS CYANE and LEVANT. Published by Sippican, Inc., in commemoration of CONSTITUTION's bicentennial, in an edition limited to 600 copies. Signed on image; unnumbered. Price: $300. (None remarqued)*

The Bicentennial Sail of USS CONSTITUTION. Diptych, scheduled for publication in 1999 in an edition of 500; both images on one sheet. Price: $300.

Commences the list of the artist's posters for maritime museums and institutions. Some of these are out of print, as noted, but others are still sold by the museums that published them, at modest prices. The addresses of tbese museums are provided; inquiries as to prices should be addressed to their individual gift shops.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts, "Small Ships of the Sea." One edition of 50O. Out of print. Rare.

Peabody Museum of Salem, "Maritime Arts by Wm. Gilkerson." One edition of 500. Out of print. Rare.

The Whaling Museum of New Bedford. Multiple printings over the years; numbers unrecorded. Available from the Museum at: 18 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford, Massachusetts 02740.

The Kendall Whaling Museum. 2000 produced; edition still open. Available from the Museum's gift shop: address the Kendall Whaling Museum, Sharon, Massachusetts 02067.

USS CONSTITUTION Museum. Produced in an edition of 2000, of which the first 50 were signed presentation copies with printed remarque of Capt. Isaac Hull in the rigging. All now out of print.

Nantucket Whaling Museum. 4000 initially printed in an open edition of which the first 50 were signed presentation copies with printed remarque, a boatman overboard, swimming. Production copies are available from the Museum at: Post Office Box 1016, Nantucket, Massachusetts 02554.

U.S. Naval Academy Museum & USS CONSTITUTION Museum, "Huzzah! for CONSTITUTION." Because this poster was made for an exhibit to be shown in two venues, two printings were made, of 1000 copies without show dates, and 2000 copies with dates. The first lists the Museums' names at the bottom in roman type without show dates, the second (illustrated) includes dates in italic type. Production copies of type 2 are available from the USS CONSTITUTION Museum, Post Office Box 1812, Charlestown, Massachusetts 02129.

South Street Seaport Museum & The Mariners' Museum, "Under the Black Flag, Life Among the Pirates", Painted by William Gilkerson / Curated by David Cordingly. One edition of 1000 was printed for these two museums; out of print. Another edition of the same poster was printed by the exhibition's third venue, bearing the name of Philadelphia's Independence Seaport Museum, in an edition of another 1000 copies. At last notice these are available from the Independence Seaport Museum, 211 S. Columbus, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19106.

FRAMING. With each print or lithograph, the artist's framing suggestions are included. It is important to the life of any print that it be kept out of direct sunlight or fluorescent light; anti-UV glass provides additional protection, and is recommended.
